To My Second Born

Dear Abby,
Last weekend we headed up to the mountains for a relaxing weekend in the snow. While we were packing, it became clear that you didn't have winter clothes to keep you warm, so we dressed you in your brother's clothes. We joked that you looked a little like a boy.

When we arrived in Payson we stopped at Basha's grocery store for food. When we stepped up to the checkout line, the checkout lady asked Bodie if he had a little brother and said what a cute baby boy you were. Your dad and I didn't correct the lady. I instead quickly thought up a name for you in case she asked what your name was. Your name was to be Mason if she asked. But the lady didn't ask your name and we left the store with groceries in hand. We shared the story with our friends and we all laughed. For the remainder of the weekend you were rarely called Abby, but instead referred to as Mason.

I'm sorry we dressed you in boy clothes. I'm sorry we didn't correct the checkout lady when she said you were a cute baby boy. And I'm sorry we laughed about it all weekend and called you Mason for 3 days. I promise to dress you in lots of pink and lace to make up for it because we know you're our sweet baby girl.

Love,
Mommy

LOL! That's just too funny! I'm afraid we're so used to boys around here, if we had a girl, we'd honestly make the mistake of calling her a boy rather frequently.

You are so funny - and such a good mom! If that's the worst to ever happen, you would have to be called perfect. There are, however, lots of these "regretable" experiences just waiting to happen. You can't start feeling bad yet! I'm so glad you recorded it - you'll laugh about it for a long time to come!

Abby knows who she is no matter what she is wearing and I'll bet you weren't dressed in girly thngs. She must have been adorable in her camping out cloths. Won't that woman be stunned when you go back in summer and she has bows in her hair and pink picnic cloths on and is a beautiful, beautiful girl. I'm so glad you let Abby be confident enough in being a daughter of a Father in Heaven who loves her that she can wear rough outs any old time she wants and turn around and be as pretty as a whipped cream cherry swirl. Love you

Haha that is really funny. Good thing Bodie had some winter clothes that she could borrow. She still looks cute as ever even if she was in boys clothes & the lady at the grocery store thought she was a boy.

That is so funny! In our house cross dressing kids is perfectly acceptable. For instance right now Jack is bigger than Hazel, but Hazel has all the Pj's for a 24 month old, and Jack has a lot of 18 month old Pj's so quite frequently at night Jack will have on pink with flowers and Hazel will wear blue with cars! My poor kids!

Okay, that is funny..Man, now I am really bummed that we didn't come up to the ranch. But then I guess if we did, Wyatt would have been wearing little girl cloths. Didn't think of that in advance. We could have swapped them. Heck, we have left so many things up there that you prob could have found some little girls cloths for her once you got there.--She's still a doll.
