They Practice What We Preach

"Say, no gracias," is a phrase Bodie has heard from his dad and I too many times to count in the last 3 months of his short life. His little voice tends to get a certain tone to it when he says the word no.

It's a tone we'd rather not hear at our house.

So, we've been teaching him to say, "No gracias."

He's finally warmed up to the phrase and started saying it instead of just, "NO."

It goes a little something like this:

"Bodie, would you like some bread?" "Ummm...No, gracias," he responds.

Cute right?

But sometimes it goes like this:

"Bodie, say you're sorry to Abby for dog-piling her."
Bodie: "Ummmm...No gracias."

or

"Bodie, pick up your toys and put them in the bucket."
Bodie: "Ummmm...No gracias."

or

"Bodie, say thank you to the nice lady for the sticker."
Bodie: "Ummmm...No gracias."

Ok...so we need a little fine-tuning. But I'm sure we'll have some manners around here before you know it.

I'm just impressed that he so politely declined cleaning up his toys.

He is soooo charming. Good luck mom. Pretty soon he'll be going "No gracias kiss kiss kiss" but he will always be charming. Love you

Is fine tuning called NAGGING? That's what my kids said it was. You are a great MOM! I know your kids will be very polite and just as wonderful as you and Bacho.
